Emmie around the world
So here’s something cool: Invisible Emmie has been picked up (so far) by 14 different publishers around the globe. The UK edition came out at the same time as the North American edition (and looks similar). Here are 3 more that are on their way next! The German, French (look at that unique design, which I love) and Spanish covers are shown above. It’s interesting the way each publisher anticipates how its young readers will be drawn in (The German publisher was very adamant about having a teal cover). My only hope is that readers all over the world will ultimately enjoy Emmie.
Book Tour!
I’m hitting the road for an Invisible Emmie book tour next week! And because I love the midwest, that’s where I’ll be. 10 presentations in 5 days! I’m trying not to think too hard about the math. I’ll be speaking at middle and elementary schools in Cincinnati, OH, Mount Vernon, OH, and Kalamazoo, MI. Then it’s back to Cleveland for the launch party & signing.
There is one public speaking event at the Bookbug bookstore in Kalamazoo, MI, so if you Michiganians (and your friends/families) can make it there, I’d love to see you.

Launch party!
Cleveland area folks: Help celebrate the Invisible Emmie book launch at “The Learned Owl” Book Shop in charming Hudson, OH. There will be appetizers and copies of “Invisible Emmie” on-hand for you and/or the young readers in your life. Terri will sign books and attempt to engage in conversation at once (it won’t be pretty). Open to the public. Hope to see you!

“In her first children’s book, cartoonist Libenson (The Pajama Diaries) offers strikingly different visions of seventh grade through two very dissimilar narrators. School is stressful for shy, quiet Emmie; Katie, meanwhile, is breezily popular, confident, and beautiful. With frizzy hair and hunched shoulders, Emmie shows up in tiny vignettes, sandwiched between blocks of text, that make her look as small and insignificant as she feels. Katie’s chapters, by contrast, are big, splashy panels that reflect her outgoing personality (“I’m just your average teenage girl,” she says after being offered movie roles and the crown of homecoming queen). Emmie and Katie share a crush on classmate Tyler, and when a sappy love note Emmie writes to Tyler as a joke is made public, Emmie is humiliated. Katie rises to her defense, but Emmie eventually learns to speak up for herself, realizing that embarrassment isn’t the end of the world and being social isn’t as impossible as she thought. A well-executed twist will have readers flipping back to see what they missed while cheering the strides made by Libenson’s no-longer-invisible heroine.”
